Serving @ Capstone

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

This past Sunday we looking at serving at Capstone.  We asked the question: “Why should we serve at Capstone or any local church.”  We came up with there reasons we should serve in the local church.

When we are serving at Capstone we are:
living as a CONTRIBUTOR, not a CONSUMER
living in the GAME, not on the SIDELINES
living for CHRIST, not OURSELVES

At the end of the day we had 50 people sign up to serve at the Gathering on Sunday Mornings.  That is a huge win for our community of faith.  One year ago we had 25 adults who were just interested in a help start a new church.  We now not only have a great group with us, but ones who are ready and willing to serve.

Areas of Service: Production

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Capstone isn’t about creating a show, but is about creating a place where relevance is valued.  So we don’t have a choir loft or stain glassed windows.  We do however have several tools we use in production to remove barriers and enhance our Sunday morning experience.

Sound
Do you have a good ear sound for music and want to learn the technical side of making the Capstone Band sounding the best it can?  Then the Sound Team might be a great fit for you.

Lights
We don’t have anything fancy when it comes to lights, but we use what we have to create a great atomsphere for the Gathering. If you would like to give a hand once a month on the lights let us know this Sunday.

Computer
This isn’t your mama’s Powerpoint. We run a program that makes Powerpoint look like Pong from 80s.  Pro Presenter isn’t that hard once you get the hang of it.  The computer is a key component of our Sunday Morning experience.   It handles everything from the announcements before the service, to the words of the songs, videos and the message slides.  If you have a nack for technology and what to give the computer a spin make sure to sign up Sunday.

Areas of Service: Children

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

At Capstone we believe in ministering to the whole family.  That means pouring a lot into our children. Our children’s areas aren’t just baby sitting, but intentional teaching that helps our little ones learn more about who God is and what Jesus did for us.

Pebble Beach (infant to K-5)
Pebble Beach is split into three areas: Infant to 1/ 2-3/4-5.  PB is always looking for more help in loving, playing, teaching and caring for our children.   If you have a passion for little ones then Pebble Beach is the place for you.

Camp Rock (1st thru 5th grade)
Camp Rock is all about teaching the Bible is a way our children can understand it.  We have created an area where these kids can come early and play games with the leaders and also learn in an environment built for them.  Camp Rock is a mixture of games, teaching, and small groups where relationship are vital.

Areas of Service: First Impressions

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Most experts say that people who are visiting your church will make up their mind if they are coming back within the first 30 to 60 seconds of arriving.  So our first impressions team is the front line of making sure visitors feel welcomed, at ease, and informed as they come into Capstone.  Here are the areas of First Impressions:

Parking Lot - This will be a new area for Capstone.  We want people to see big smiles and energetic waves welcoming and directing them as they drive into Capstone. We are looking for people who look good in orange vest and would do a great job of ministering in our parking lot.

Greeters - Greeters are a key tool at Capstone.  So many times people go to churches and are never met with a smile or even welcomed.  They just fall through the cracks.  Our greeters will be responsible for making sure everyone at Capstone is “touched” with a warm welcome and Capstone program every Sunday morning.

Hospitality - Ever since the beginning of Capstone we have had an area where people could come and fellowship before and after church.  We believe this is an important area where the folks at Capstone can connect over some coffee and donuts.  Our hospitality team works hard to make sure we have plenty of coffee brewing, fresh donuts to munch on, and a helpful attitude in creating our Capstone Cafe.

Information Table - Each week at Capstone we have sign ups and people who are looking for answers.  The information table team exist to make sure that we have a specific person who can answer questions, direct people to the right areas for children, and also to give out our first time visitors bags.

Tomorrow we will be looking at Pebble Beach and Camp Rock.  Come back to get all the inside information on these two very special places to serve on Sunday Mornings.

Areas of Service at Capstone

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

This week we will be spending time breaking down the areas of ministry at Capstone.  We are a volunteer driven church.  Each weeks it takes many volunteers to make sure we have fertile soil for the Gospel.  Some jobs are in front of people, while others are behind the scenes making it happen.

If you call Capstone your home please be in prayer where you can help serve.  This Sunday we will be doing a HUGE volunteer push to get everyone in place for September.  Don’t know where to serve?  Each day this week we will be revealing and explaining areas of service at Capstone.

VAN [Volunteer Appreciation Night]

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The past year has all been made possible through Volunteers at Capstone. There is no way that we could of accomplish all that Capstone has done without people giving up their time and energy in so many areas.
To show our thanks we had our first VAN [volunteer appreciation night]. We invited all of our volunteers and their families to come for a night fun. We held a dinner on a rooftop overlooking the West End of downtown Greenville. And then headed down for a Greenville Drive Game.

Thank You to all the Capstone Volunteers who make Capstone Church happen every week. We couldn’t do it without you.
