Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

I hate that I missed our Kidz Kamp this year. I heard a lot of great things. Here is a video highlight from this past week. I am grateful for all of the volunteers who sacrificed their time to serve. Also want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to FBC Dublin for all their help last week. We could NOT done it without you. GREAT JOB!

ONE PRAYER - Unstoppable You

Monday, June 28th, 2010

We finished the One Prayer series yesterday. It has been an awesome month of June in celebrating with so many other churches around the world. Yesterday’s message was a perfect ending to the series.

Yesterday Kevin asked the question: What are you YOKED to? Are we yoked to sin or to Christ? For FREEDOM we have been set free. Yet so many times we leave our freedom and return to slavery. Our personal culture does not give way to Kingdom culture.

Kevin explained that our freedom is not a license to sin, and the best way to move beyond that is to think of others and not ourselves. What is our freedom? Our freedom is Jesus Christ, God’s son given for us. I pray that we will declare war on the sin in our lives. Pray for the grace of God to help us replace our Personal culture with Kingdom culture.

Set List:

  • Happy Day (Hughes) Happy
  • All Because of Jesus (Fee) All
  • You Reign (Williams)
  • Revelation Song (Kari Jobe) Revelation
  • Saving One (Starfield) The
I want to say a big thanks and GOOD JOB to Josh (worship intern) for leading while I have been gone. He is doing a  great job and I look forward to seeing how he continues to grow over the next year.

One Prayer - Unstoppable Power

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

“When we want what God wants for the reason God wants, we are unstoppable.” What an amazing quote. Everyone that I talked to after the Gathering was PUMPED about the message from this past Sunday.

Learning the power of the bunt. Capstone do NOT think that because we are young or don’t have a lot of money as a church that God cannot use us to SHAKE the nations for His glory. All we need is the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit of God and he through us will make his glory known.

I pray that you live in the truth from the Word that we heard this past Sunday. Don’t miss this Sunday’s Gathering. I believe Walt is going to preach one of the most important messages in the short history of Capstone Church.

Set List:

  • All For You (Dukes)
  • Saving One (Starfield) Starfield - The Saving One - The Saving One
  • Mighty to Save (Hillsong) Hillsong United - The I Heart Revolution - Mighty to Save
  • You Reign (Williams)
  • The Stand (Hillsong United) Kristian Stanfill - Passion: Awakening (Deluxe Edition) - The Stand
  • No Condemnation (Dukes)

One Pray - Unstoppable Courage

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Yesterday began the One Prayer series. Thanks to the advances in technology we were able to have Craig Groschel preach the message yesterday.

During June the theme of the messages will be UNSTOPPABLE. Yesterday, Craig preached about an unstoppable courage that comes from God. I thought the message was great, but there was one specific line and point that is worth repeating.

Our lions (fears) won’t look so big when we are comparing them to God. So many times we back down because of our fears because we don’t view them in light of a big God. God is so much bigger, greater, powerful than anything that we can face.

I loved what Walt shared at the end of the video. Capstone is a testimony of people who have looked the lion in the eye and stepped into God’s power. Walt and Chris stepped out in faith in a lot of areas. Even still Capstone lives on the edge of day by day being led by the Spirit. We continue to look at the lion and step out of ourselves and into God’s power.

Set List:

  • Rise and Sing (Fee)
  • Fee - Hope Rising - Rise and Sing

  • Saving One (Starfield)
  • Starfield - The Saving One - The Saving One

  • Jesus Paid It All (Stanfill)
  • Kristian Stanfill - Passion: Everything Glorious - Jesus Paid It All

  • Glory to God Forever (Fee)
  • Fee - Hope Rising - Glory to God Forever

  • No One Higher/The Stand (Fee/Houston)
  • Steve Fee - Awake - No One Higher / The Stand

Empire of Entitlement

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

What an awesome Sunday. With Memorial Day yesterday, I am late getting the summary from Sunday. I have officially declared 2010 as the year of the tough sermon. It really seems like each week Walt delivers a tough, heavy message.

This Sunday was one of the toughest messages I have heard at Capstone. It is also one of the most important messages that needed to be preached. We live in a time where we are expected to have everything come to us. We think that because we live in America that we are entitled to anything we want.

BIG PROBLEM: THAT’S NOT IN THE BIBLE.

Walt gave three statements in light of the Empire of Entitlement:

  1. We Only Remember What We Have Done - We lose sight of the fact that God is the giver of all things. We forget that God is the one is sustaining our very breath at every moment. We assume all credit when things go well and give all blame to someone else when things go wrong.
  2. The Universe Revolves Around Us - As a student pastor, I saw this issue a lot. It was amazing how many teenagers seemed to think that their wants and “needs” were more important than anything or anyone else.
  3. The Empire of Entitlement has no Place in God’s Plan - Tear It Down! It has no place, so examine your life and if you see signs of this empire, then get rid of it. Declare war on the empire. Right now. That is not a joke, get serious about it and go after it.
It was great having Kevin Bradford and his band leading us this past Sunday. I loved having them lead us to the throne. They did an excellent job and hope that we will be able to have them back with us again.
