Community Christmas Shop

As the number of families in our community needing help with Christmas grew, Capstone felt called to try something a little different this year. We met with with Center for Community Services, Fountain Inn Elementary School, FIKE, & others, and the First Annual Community Christmas Shop was born!

Families applied through CCS for Christmas assistance, and listed needed & wanted items on their applications. Once the families were approved, sponsors were found for the items that were listed, and the parents were invited to a Christmas shop on December 14. There, each family received the needed items that were listed on their application, and then they paid $10 per child ($40 max per family) to be able to “shop” for toys for their children. All of the toys & wanted items that were collected from sponsors were set up in a “store” setting, and the parents were able to choose from the items what was best for their child. Once the gifts were chosen, the parents were able to wrap the gifts, and they were also able to choose stocking stuffers. The money that was paid to shop was donated to Golden Strip Emergency Relief.

After LOTS of preparation, the shop was a HUGE success! 117 children were taken care of, and the joy and gratitude expressed by the parents was unexplainable. It was wonderful to partner with these organizations to empower the families & help them be active in their child’s Christmas.

Thank you to all of the donors & volunteers that made this possible!
